· North Carolina Soil Scientist License Number 1102 · B.S. in Soil Conservation, 1982; concentration in Soil Science; North Carolina State University Hal has amassed more than 25 years of experience as a soil scientist working on various soil survey projects in NC and VA. He has worked as a soil scientist for a local health department and for various environmental consulting firms conducting wetland investigations and managing a program for land application of residuals. In 1991 he decided to start his own business, and has built a reputable company with a qualified staff of professionals. Hal is passionate about the advancement of soil science and his community and has been a member of the Harnett County Planning Board, the Consulting Soil Scientists of the Carolinas (president 2007), the National Society of Consulting Soil Scientists (executive board member 2008), and the Soil Science Society of North Carolina (executive committee 2008). He is also a proponent in the formulation of a Standard of Practice for Soil Scientists and for Soil Scientist Licensing in other states.

She finds the beauty of nature compensates for the headaches of paperwork, but admits that a satisfied client who gets the permits he needs makes a day in the office worthwhile. |

Chris Leach Environmental Scientist |

· B.S. in Environmental Studies, 2006; concentration in Conservation Biology; University of Maine Machias · Certified by NC DWQ for Intermittent and Perennial Stream Identification for Regulatory Purposes Chris has returned to NC after spending several years in Maine and found a niche at HO&A. Chris is working to integrate GIS and GPS technology into our field data collection. In addition, having supervised several wetland restoration projects, he hopes to hone his skills by learning more about stream restoration. Chris says being outdoors is great, but it comes down to doing something you enjoy for “work”. |

Tucker Williamson Environmental Scientist |

· B.S. in Agricultural & Environmental Technology; North Carolina State University A recent addition to HO&A, Tucker has been trained in soils, wetlands, and septic design. However, soils have really drawn him in and he is taking steps to become a Licensed Soil Scientist. Tucker sees the ability to balance time between field work and office work as a pleasant aspect of his job. |
