Hal has amassed over 40 years of experience as a soil scientist working on various soil survey projects in NC and VA. He has worked as a soil scientist for the county health department and for various environmental consulting firms conducting wetland investigations and managing a program for land application of residuals. In 1991 he started his own business, and has built a reputable company with a qualified staff of professionals. Hal is passionate about the advancement of soil science and his community. He has been a member of the Harnett County Planning Board, the Consulting Soil Scientists of the Carolinas (president 2007), the Soil Science Society of North Carolina (executive committee 2008), the National Society of Consulting Soil Scientists (president 2011), and the Soil Science Society of America (chair Practicing Professional Soil Scientists Division 2024). He is also a proponent for Soil Scientists and for Soil Scientist Licensing in other states.
